ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, KY (FOX19) - A Hamilton County man is facing upgraded charges after his son died two years after he was shaken by his father.

Ricky Edwards, 32, is currently serving an 8.5 year sentence in the London Correctional Institution on charges of child endangering and drug trafficking.

According to Hamilton County court records, Edwards shook his infant son, Savon Edwards, on Dec. 26, 2008 when the child was 3-months old. Edwards was arrested and indicted in February of 2009, and was found guilty of the charges during a jury trial in February of 2010.

Savon Edwards died Monday afternoon in Rockcastle County, Ky.

Rockcastle County Coroner Billy Dowell says an autopsy is being performed Wednesday on Savon Edwards, with results expected later this week. If the autopsy reveals he died as a result of shaking, charges against Ricky Edwards could be upgraded.
