ELSMERE, KY (FOX19) - Police have arrested a bank robbery suspect who could be responsible for at least two other bank robberies in the area.

The U.S. Bank on Dixie Highway in Elsmere was robbed around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon when the suspect entered the bank and gave a handwritten note to the teller demanding money.

Once he got the money, he fled on foot.

While officers from Erlanger and Elsmere were searching the area, residents in the area were calling about a suspicious person without knowing the bank had been robbed.

The suspect had changed clothing, and tips from citizens continued to give officers a clothing description.

Seven minutes after the robbery, Timothy Howell, 36, was taken into custody. He was taken to the Kenton County Jail, charged with robbery. He also had two outstanding warrants from bank robberies in Cincinnati and Covington.
