AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) - Police have identified the victim in the first murder of 2011 outside an Avondale Market.

Police say 22-year-old Rafeal Ross was gunned down outside the Lexington Market on Reading Road at about 10:45 a.m. Sunday morning.

"The subject shot then crawled into the store right over here, and subsequently that is where he died," says Sgt. Mike Miller of the Cincinnati Police Department.

Police say the shooter was seen running south from the market. He's described as an African-American man about 5'9" tall. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a red bandana over his face at the time of the shooting.

Meanwhile local pastors say something must be done to improve the quality of life in Avondale.

"We need to start some kind of program that can affect the household--mother, father, and those that are taking care of these young people that are killing each other. And then maybe we can slow it down or get rid of it, I don't know," says Rev. Richard Garr.

Police say the shooting was caught on surveillance camera. If you have any information please call CRIMESTOPPERS at 513-352-3040.
