COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) - A handwriting analysis has revealed that the resume for Lt. Jeff Braley, the lead investigator in the Ryan Widmer case, was falsified.

Braley investigated the death of Ryan's wife, Sarah, who was found dead in the bathtub of the couple's Hamilton Township home in August 2008. Ryan Widmer was convicted of killing her, but had the conviction overturned due to juror misconduct. A second trial ended in a hung jury, and a third trial is scheduled for later this month.

Following the second trial, Judge Neal Bronson unsealed documents not used by Widmer's defense team, claiming Det. Braley did not attend the University of Florida or obtain his masters from Wright State University as indicated on his application with Hamilton Township Police. Braley also lied about his experience as a postal inspector, instead only working as a part-time clerk.

Braley strongly denied falsifying his resume and claimed the documents had been tampered with. But a handwriting comparison by a forensic scientist with the Ohio Attorney General's Office found that there was no evidence of an alteration.

The third trial for Ryan Widmer is scheduled to begin next week.
