Middletown school district begins to discuss changes in spending

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (FOX19) - The Middletown City School District began the first of three public forums to discuss the city's budget, Thursday.

The city expects they will have to take a $5 million reduction to its budget. This reduction comes as the city expects to get less money from the state.

During these forums, district officials will ask the community members what the district needs to stop doing, what they need to start doing, and what they need to stop doing. District officials plan to use this information when they create a new budget for 2012.

"We are keeping track of all of the responses on a data base, and I think that it will give us a good idea of what the stake holders think is important in a good school system," said Debbie Alberico, Spokesperson for Middletown City Schools.

The Middletown school administration plans to have a draft of the budget prepared to present to the school board members in March.
