Man injured in tractor vs. truck crash in Indiana

VERSAILLES, IN (FOX19) - An Indiana man is in the hospital after he was riding on a tractor that was hit by a pick up truck.

Ripley County sheriff's deputies responded to County Road 450 W just north of 1025 S. on Wednesday and found Bradley L. Zimmerman, 46, unconscious and lying in the roadway.

Preliminary investigation shows Zimmerman was operating a small John Deere Utility Tractor, clearing his neighbor's driveway of snow, when he pulled out onto the county road to push snow off the east side of the road.

Zimmerman was struck in the right rear tire area of the tractor by a 1997 Ford pick-up being operated by Cesar S. Montero, 32, of Dillsboro. The impact ejected Zimmerman from the tractor onto the roadway where he received severe injuries.

Zimmerman was transported to Kings Daughter Hospital for injuries he sustained in the accident. His condition is unknown.

Montero told officers he was northbound on county road 450 W., crested the hill at county road 1025 S, and could see a small Tractor in the roadway.  Montero said the tractor started backing up and due to the snow covered roadway, he was unable to avoid striking the tractor. Montero was not injured in the accident, but was cited for no driver's license when required and no insurance.
