CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A Cleves man is facing charges after police say he abducted a man, then shot him in the chest.

Sir Abernathy, 24, is charged with abduction and felonious assault.

According to Hamilton County court records, Abernathy abducted Mathias Carter from the Speedway gas station on Galbraith Avenue on Jan. 6 in retaliation to a robbery that occurred earlier in the day and not reported.

Investigators say Abernathy threatened Carter with a gun and drove him around for 30 to 40 minutes. When Carter spotted an opportunity to get away, Abernathy chased him. Carter fell to the ground, and Abernathy shot him in the chest, then drove away.

Carter made his way to a nearby home and the resident called 911. He suffered from a punctured lung and punctured liver. He was able to identify Abernathy from a photo array.

Abernathy was arrested Monday by officers with SOFAST and taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center.
