Jury has been selected in the retrial of Ryan Widmer

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - Six men and six women have been chosen for the jury in the retrial of Ryan Widmer which begins Monday. Prosecutors say Widmer drowned his wife, Sarah, in their Hamilton Township home in 2008.

Jay Clark, Defense Attorney for Widmer, asked all of the potential jurors if they knew anyone who worked at strip club in Iowa, this was just one of the many questions asked of the jurors.

Prosecutors claim they have a mystery witness who reportedly heard a confession from Widmer. The mystery witness, who is believed to be a woman, will testify on Monday.

Widmer's 2009 murder conviction was thrown out over juror misconduct. Jurors in his second trial last year failed to reach a unanimous verdict.

It is still undecided if the court will allow the prosecution's lead witness, Hamilton Township Police Detective Jeff Braley, to be questioned about his job application. The defense claims Braley lied about his education and work experience on the application, but Braley claims the application was altered. An investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Identification determined the application was not tampered with.

The jury will not be sequestered in this case.
