EDEN PARK, OH (FOX19) - Due to funding cuts to the Cincinnati Park Board, Krohn Conservatory will no longer be open to the public seven days a week, and free seasonal flower shows have been eliminated from the budget.
The cuts will go into effect on February 7, 2011. The conservatory will now be closed on Mondays and all city holidays.
There will also now be an admission charged for the two remaining Krohn floral shows - the International Butterfly Show and the Winter Holiday Show. The butterfly show has always required a ticket for admission, but this will be the first year patrons have to pay for the Winter Holiday Show. The conservatory will be open on Mondays and holidays during these shows.
"While difficult budgetary realities have made these changes necessary, the Krohn Conservatory will continue to delight visitors each year," said Willie F. Carden, director of Cincinnati Parks.
The Krohn Conservatory, celebrating its 78th year, is located on Eden Park Drive. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
