Deerfield Towne Center evacuated due to "misunderstanding"
DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The Warren County Sheriff's Department says a "misunderstanding" led to the evacuation of part of the Deerfield Towne Center Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say a man dropped the package off at the Cincinnati Bell store in the 5400 block of Deerfield Blvd. and ran out of the store, got into a vehicle and left. As he was leaving, the vehicle hit a parked car in the parking lot.
The parking lot was blocked off and some of the businesses were evacuated.
Following the incident, an official with the Warren County Sheriff's Office said that the incident had been a "misunderstanding," and that business should return to normal.
The package was later determined to be full of lithium batteries that were left at the Cincinnati Bell store to be recycled.
All businesses at the Deerfield Towne Center are now open.
