Indiana University awarded grant for fruit fly center

Indiana University has received a nearly three (m) million dollar grant to set up a center to provide genetic information about the fruit fly. The fruit fly has been studied by researchers for 100 years and I-U maintains a massive database on the fly's genetics. The grant from the National Institutes of Health will allow the university to establish a genetic research center for the fruit fly on the Bloomington campus and hire 15 staffers.
