Record breaking turnout for Polar Plunge

BELLEVUE, KY (FOX19) - Groups of people from around the Tri-State gathered together on Saturday to support the Special Olympics in a very unique way.

The Polar Plunge fundraiser, hosted by FOX19 Meteorologist Katy Morgan, raised over $150,000 for the Special Olympics by having participants jump into a pool of freezing water.

667 people showed up to Joe's Crab Shack in Bellevue on Saturday to take the plunge. Saturday's plunge broke records in both attendance and money raised.

The Special Olympics is the world's largest program of sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
