7th Ranked Xavier Women Beat Dayton In Overtime

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Amber Harris scored 16 points, including a three-point play with 55 seconds left in overtime, and No. 7 Xavier escaped with a 70-66 win over Dayton on Saturday.

Harris added a free throw to give Xavier (19-2, 8-0 Atlantic 10) a 67-64 lead, then added two more free throws with 13 seconds left for the final margin.

Patrice Lalor, who scored 14 points, rallied Dayton (15-8, 6-3) with a foul-line jumper and a 3-pointer with 1:11 left in regulation to put Dayton ahead 60-57. Xavier's Katie Rutan answered with a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left to tie the score at 60.

Dayton held for the last shot, but Justine Raterman's 3-pointer bounced off the rim.

Xavier, which defeated Dayton for the fourth straight time, was led in scoring by point guard Special Jennings scored 14 of her 19 points in the first half to carry the Musketeers, who have beaten Dayton four straight times.

Ta'Shia Phillips added 13 points for Xavier. Raterman scored 25 points to lead Dayton. Kristin Daugherty had 16.
