Cincinnati, OH (FOX 19) After missing his team's Saturday loss to number four Pittsburgh, suspended forward Yancy Gates was back at practice with the University of Cincinnati basketball team on Monday. Head Coach Mick Cronin said he had been in contact with Gates over the weekend but didn't speak to him in person until Monday morning.
During his morning media availability Cronin wouldn't say if or when Gates might be back with the team but Bill Koch of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Gates did make the trip with the Bearcats when they left Cincinnati Monday afternoon for Tuesday's game at DePaul.
Cronin said the decision to suspend Gates was a "no-brainer" and the same rules apply to every member of his team.
A junior, Gates is the Bearcats' leading rebounder and second leading scorer.
