IN State Trooper discovers meth lab in car during traffic stop

OSGOOD, IN (FOX19) – An Indiana State Trooper discovers a meth lab in vehicle during routine traffic stop.

Trooper Jimmy Wells was patrolling U.S. 421 in Osgood Sunday night when he attempted to stop a 2000 Dodge Ram for a minor traffic violation. The vehicle turned off U.S. 421 and went west on C.R. 450N before pulling over.

Trooper Wells discovered the driver, Jason T. Burkholder, 41, of Osgood had a suspended drivers' license and the registration on the Dodge Ram was false. When he informed Burkholder he would have to inventory and impound the vehicle, Burkholder ran into the nearby woods but shortly thereafter surrendered to Tpr. Wells.

Tpr. Wells later discovered inside the vehicle the components of a meth lab. Burkholder was arrested for Manufacturing Methamphetamine, a Class B Felony, Possession of Paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanor, and Resisting Law Enforcement, a Class A Misdemeanor and was taken to the Ripley County Jail.

In the vehicle with Burkholder at the time of the traffic stop was the eight year old daughter of his girlfriend. As a result, Burkholder could face additional charges.
