Bengal Jonathan Fanene switches to basketball to raise money for a good cause
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Although he is usually seen playing football for the Bengals, #68 Jonathan Fanene will hit the court tonight as he hosts the 20th annual Celebrity Basketball Extravaganza.
This year's Extravaganza will benefit Sojourner Recovery Services, which provides services for drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Based in Hamilton, Ohio, the organization anticipates raising close to $30,000 from tonight's event.
Fanene has spent the last year serving as an ambassador for Sojourner Recovery Services and, together with his marketing agency Celebrity Sports Appearances (CSA), has gathered athletes locally and around the league to participate in this event.
The evening will feature a friendly game of basketball, along with hundreds of area sponsors and vendors. Free autographs for kids will also be offered after the game.
Other athletes participating include Bengals Fui Vakapuna, Bobbie Williams, and Jerome Simpson as well as U.C. alums Ricardo Matthews and Mardy Gilyard. All-Stars from the MLB will also be in attendance, including Hall of Famers from the Cincinnati Reds.
The event will take place tonight at 7:30 at Fifth Third Arena. For ticket information call 513-347-4900.
