Players "Stressed," Cronin Wants Respect

Cincinnati (Fox 19) Mick Cronin wanted to talk about a lot more than the Bearcats' next opponent Monday.  Cronin used the bulk of his media availability to point out that his players are dealing with being stressed out - and with a lack of respect from the rest of the Big East Conference.

Cronin said that Yancy Gates' suspension earlier this month was a direct result of the amount of pressure Gates and other players put on themselves.  To cope, the Bearcats have been doing stress relieving exercises.  Gates scored 21 points Saturday against Providence.

In making a case for Rashad Bishop as the best defender in the Big East conference, Cronin said any accolades the Bearcats deserve individually or as a team are lost on the rest of the league.

UC plays at Georgetown Wednesday night.
