WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Police are investigating a fatal car crash that occurred early Wednesday morning.
It happened just before 3 a.m. at the 4.4 milemarker on westbound I-74.
Police say a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan operated by Greg Fister, 39, of Cincinnati, was traveling westbound when his vehicle traveled off of the roadway into the median. Fister attempted to steer his vehicle back onto the roadway, causing the vehicle to rotate in a clockwise fashion and travel off of the right side of the roadway where it struck a guardrail and overturned.
Fister was ejected from his vehicle after his vehicle struck the guardrail and over turned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger, Rosauro E. Famularcano, 42, also of Cincinnati, was not injured in the crash.
Police say alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be a factor. Fister was not wearing a safety restraint device at the time of the crash; however, Famularcano was utilizing his safety restraint.
This crash remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Traffic Safety Unit.
Both lanes of Interstate Route 74 were completely shut down for approximately 45 minutes until the left lane was opened; however, the right lane remained closed until 6:15 a.m.
