Police: Man was traveling with $2.5 million worth of cocaine

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Police have arrested a man they say was traveling with about $2.5 million worth of cocaine.

After an investigation involving the Cincinnati Police Mid-Level Drug Unit in cooperation with Cincinnati DEA Agents / Task Force Officers, police arrested 58-year-old Clarence Banks. According to police, the investigation revealed that Banks had been traveling between Chicago and Cincinnati to obtain multiple kilograms of cocaine and marijuana for distribution in the Greater Cincinnati area.

When Banks was arrested, police say they found 55 pounds of cocaine, worth around $2.5 million. Banks was charged in federal court for Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute and is currently in federal custody.

Authorities say the arrest will significantly impact the local supply of cocaine and the flow of drugs between Chicago and Cincinnati.
