Wondering why your car was dirty after the rain? Steve Horstmeyer explains
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) – Are you wondering why your vehicle is dirty after all of this rain? Steve Horstmeyer has your answer.
Steve says that when a powerful, windy storm approaches, it picks up dust from dry areas and transports it to the Tri-state. The rain washes the airborne dust out of the sky and deposits it on everything below, including your car.
The rainfall picks up more and more dust on the way down and when it evaporates from your car, the dust is left behind. Rain drops contain many substances, including fertilizer particles from the Great Plains, and microscopic salt crystals left over from when ocean waves.
The tiny drops evaporate, leaving behind small salt crystals.
