Teens charged in drag racing crash

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Charges have been filed against two teenagers accused of a drag racing crash that injured two people.

The crash happened Feb. 17 on Route 4 near Allison Avenue in Fairfield Township.

Police say an Acura and a Porsche were drag racing westbound on Route 4 when the Acura collided with a Jeep Wrangler driven by Danielle Anderson, 16, of Hamilton. The collision caused the Jeep to crossover the eastbound lanes, overturn, and come to a rest on the edge of the roadway.

Anderson and her passenger, Brandy Johnson, 16, of Okeana, were taken to the hospital with injuries.

On Thursday, charges were filed against the driver of the Acura, a 16-year-old boy from Cincinnati. He has been charged with two counts of vehicular assault and drag racing. Charges were also filed against the driver of the Porsche, a 17-year-old boy from Monroe. He is charged with two counts of vehicular assault, leaving the scene of a crash, drag racing and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

All of the charges were filed in Butler County Juvenile Court.

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP) Traffic Investigator Brandon McCroskey of the Fairfield Township Police Department has filed charges in Butler County Juvenile Court against two (2) male juveniles in connection with the drag racing crash that occurred on Route 4 near Allison Avenue on February 17th, 2011.

Gage C. Kinney, male/16 years of age, of Pottenger Road in Cincinnati, identified as the driver of the 1993 Acura involved in the crash, has been charged with two counts of Vehicular Assault (Felony-4), and Drag Racing (Misdemeanor).

Christian N. Vollmer, male/17 years of age, of Shady Court in Monroe, identified as the driver of the 1986 Porsche that was drag racing with the Acura, has been charged with two counts of Vehicular Assault (Felony-4), Leaving the Scene of a Crash (Felony-5), Drag Racing (Misdemeanor), and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (Misdemeanor).

Both juveniles were scheduled for an initial appearance in Butler County Juvenile Court this morning at 8 a.m.

The completed investigation showed that the Acura and the Porsche were both drag racing westbound on Route 4 when the Acura collided with a 1995 Jeep Wrangler driven by Danielle M. Anderson, female/16 years of age, of Hamilton. The collision caused the Jeep to cross over the eastbound lanes, overturn, and come to rest on the edge of the roadway on the eastbound side of Route 4. Both Anderson and her passenger, Brandy Johnson, female/16years of age, of Okeana, were transported to area hospitals with injuries sustained in the crash.
