SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy was injured during an arrest in Sycamore Township.
It happened just after 1 a.m. Friday morning on Third Street at Evans Street.
Police say Deputy Steve Junker located a running pickup truck with the driver passed out behind the wheel. After learning the registered owner of the vehicle had several outstanding warrants, the deputy woke up the driver, who was intoxicated, and tried to identify him.
When the suspect said several times that he didn't want to go to jail, he was taken to the ground by Deputy Junker, where the struggle continued for several minutes before Deputy Junker pinned the suspect to the ground until backup units arrived.
Deputy Junker suffered minor injuries to both hands, but did not require medical attention.
The suspect, Shawn Hampton, 32, has been charged with OVI, refusing a chemical test with previous OVI conviction, stopping in a roadway and resisting arrest. He also had three outstanding warrants.
