ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19) - An Alexandria police officer has died while participating in a training in Corbin, Ky.
Alexandria Police say Officer James "Stumpy" Sticklen collapsed from a medical emergency and was transported to the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Kentucky where he died.
Officer Sticklen had been with the Alexandria Police Department since 1992 and spent the last 9 years assigned as a School Resource Officer serving the Campbell County School District, Bishop Brossart High School and St. Mary Grade School.
"He has had a profound effect on the lives of thousands of students during his tenure," said Lt. George Schreiner in a press release. "On behalf of the Alexandria Police Department, our Officers, Staff, the Employees and Elected Officials of the City of Alexandria, we extend our deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers to Jim's wife and children."
