PERRYVILLE, KY (AP) - A wind-aided fire blew through a barn in central Kentucky, killing 19 horses.
Assistant Boyle County Fire Chief Paul McCrystal told The Danville Advocate-Messenger that the fire was reported just after midnight Saturday and destroyed the barn.
McCrystal said investigators returned Saturday afternoon to try to determine how the fire started but were unsuccessful.
The extent of the damage will make it difficult to determine how the blaze started, McCrystal said.
Firefighters found the barn, about 250 feet long and 100 feet wide, completely engulfed on arrival.
McCrystal said high winds also created problems for firefighters.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital for overexertion and later released.
