HEBRON, KY (FOX19) - Traffic was slow in northern Kentucky Wednesday morning after an accident involving a school bus.
The crash occurred just before 7 a.m. Wednesday morning on eastbound Interstate 275 just west of Ky. 237 and involved a school bus, car and a semi truck.
Police say John Gripshover, 33 of Petersburg was driving a Dodge Neon in the left lane when he swerved suddenly to avoid debris in the roadway, losing control and spinning into the guardrail and then into a Boone County school bus traveling in the right lane and driven by Stephen Fields, 55, of Florence.
A tractor trailer, coming up behind the Neon and school bus, clipped the Neon and school bus before coming to a stop. The tractor trailer, hauling pork, was driven by Pamela Peirano, 43, of Ocala, Florida. The rig is owned by Richers Trucking out of Wever, Iowa.
There were 12 students on the bus, but none of them were injured.
Gripshover, who complained of leg pain, was taken from the scene by his wife. Peirano was transported to the hospital with undetermined injuries. The bus was escorted from the scene by the school resource officer who provided the students' names to school administrators for parental notification.
Both lanes were shut down for approximately 40 minutes. One lane remained closed for an additional hour.
