Police: Robber held clerk at ground at gunpoint; gun malfunction saved clerk's life

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - The West Chester Police Department has made an arrest in the Tuesday night robbery of a Shell Gas Station.

West Chester Police responded to the Shell Gas Station on the 9200 block of Cincinnati-Dayton Road at about 11:30 pm Tuesday. According to police, the suspect entered the store and asked to purchase some items. When the clerk returned with the items, the suspect pulled out a weapon and told the clerk to get on the ground.

When the clerk was on the ground, the suspect attempted to shoot him, but the gun malfunctioned. When the clerk realized this, the clerk forced the gun away from the suspect, and the suspect escaped.

Police arrested 50-year-old John Ravencraft in connection with the robbery a few hours later. He has been charged with one count of Aggravated Robbery, a felony of the 1st degree and one count of Attempted Murder, a felony of the 2nd degree.
