ALEXANDRIA, KY (FOX19) - An Alexandria Police Officer and school resource officer who died during a training exercise was laid to rest Thursday.
James "Stumpy" Sticklen, 58, suffered a medical emergency on Friday, March 4 while he was participating in a training in Corbin, Ky.
A procession left Thursday morning from the parking lot of St. Mary's church and continued to Maysville, where a funeral was held at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial followed at St. James Cemetery in Brooksville.
Sticklen is survived by his wife Laurie and three children, Mary, Emily and Andrew. Officer Sticklen's daughter Emily sang at the funeral.
Officer Sticklen had been with the Alexandria Police Department since 1992 and spent the last 9 years assigned as a school resource officer.
A visitation was held Wednesday night for Sticklen.
