'American Idol' sends home first finalist

LOS ANGELES (AP) - "American Idol" viewers didn't tell Ashthon Jones they loved her.

The silky smooth 24-year-old retail manager from Nashville, Tenn., was revealed to have the fewest viewer votes Thursday on the Fox talent competition.

The judges decided not to save Jones after her performance of Diana Ross' "When You Tell Me That You Love Me." Jones said before her dismissal that she regretted not selecting a more popular Ross tune.

Joining her as the bottom three vote-getters were 21-year-old college student Karen Rodriguez of New York and 20-year-old college student Haley Reinhart of Wheeling, Ill.

Randy Jackson dubbed their respective Wednesday performances of Selena's "I Could Fall In Love" and LeAnn Rimes' "Blue" as sleepy.

Rodriguez and Reinhart are among the 12 remaining contestants vying to win a record deal.
