CHEVIOT, OH (FOX19) - Chili isn't just for cold winter days anymore. The Adoptive Parents Outreach Program (APOP) is hosting a Chili Cook-off today to spread adoption awareness around the Tri-State.
This event is the sixth annual cook-off hosted by APOP, and will feature a panel of local celebrities as judges. Among those scheduled is former Bengal David Fulcher.
Couples from the APOP will make batches of their favorite chili for the general public to sample. Prizes will be awarded for the top three vote getters.
A silent auction will also take place, featuring autographed items, gift certificates, crafts, and event tickets.
"Our main goal for this event is to spread adoption awareness," said Gene Johnson, Chief Operating Officer for Catholic Charities. "There are many wonderful families waiting to open their hearts and homes up to a special child."
The cook-off and auction take place from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. tonight at the Purcell Knights of Columbus Banquet Hall in Cheviot. Tickets are $13 at the door, and children under 10 are free.
