CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)-- "I've never seen anything like that in my life," said Mj Jergenson about the deadly crash on Sycamore St. Tuesday night that left a cab driver and his passenger dead.
She and her friends say the crash looked like something worse that a Hollywood nightmare. The four friends had just finish up having a drink at Arnold's when they heard the chaos.
As the friends rushed over to the cab, they could tell the two people inside had died. The friends also got to Sycamore Street just in time to see the suspect, Mark Gerth, running away.
"Everything happened too quick. I knew that this guy was like, not good and my buddy, well, he was going to go get this guy, so we ran after him and were basically saying "he's over here, he's over here," said Paul Morris.
Gerth barely made it away from the crash before he landed in police handcuffs.
Meanwhile, these friends had suddenly become witnesses to two crashes they say horrified them. Each tried to help the victims as much as they could.
"We spoke to them, we tried to, and there was no response and I, I knew. I mean, MJ was trying to do something, but I knew that there was nothing that we could do for them," said Kristen Ruthemeyer.
It's the kind of experience that has lingered with each of them.
"I can't get rid of this headache, and I think that's because I don't know what else to do right now, but to talk about it," said Mj Jergenson.
