CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A man sent to prison for felony child endangering charges after his infant child was severely shaken in December 2008, has been indicted a Hamilton County Grand jury on murder charges.
Ricky Edwards, 32, was sentenced to eight years in prison, the maximum penalty. His son, Savon Edwards, was three months old when he was shaken violently.
A preliminary diagnosis revealed that the baby suffered from severe bleeding on the brain. Investigators say the injury to the baby was caused by severely being shaken. He was in a coma for two years and died December 27th.
Edwards was acquitted of felonious assault but convicted on child endangering.
The Hamilton County grand jury heard the case Thursday morning and agreed to return a murder indictment.
Edwards has been in jail since February 2009.
