Big Wish Gala raises $164k for Make-A-Wish

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, Southern Ohio Region has announced that the Big Wish Gala held earlier this month exceeded their fundraising goal by 42 percent.

The March 5 gala raised $164,000.

"We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from our sponsors, guests and local community," commented Executive Director Tom Carleton. "We set a goal to raise $115,000 to grant the wishes of 19 southern Ohio children battling life-threatening medical conditions and exceeded our own expectations allowing us to bring hope to 8 additional families." 

More than 500 guests and volunteers bid on auction packages, submitting their bids via text message.

FOX19 anchor Sheila Gray served as the master of ceremonies.

Wish Children Andrew, 12, who wished to go to a U.S. Tennis Tournament and Abigail, 14, who wished to be a purse designer shared their wish stories. The Olberding Family and Performance Automotive and were also honored at the event for raising $650,000 and $172,000 respectively over the past several years allowing the Foundation to grant a combined 137 wishes.
