Juror speaks out about possible new Widmer trial

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - The judge in the Ryan Widmer case is considering new arguments from both the defense and the prosecution.

The defense wants a new trial or acquittal for Ryan Widmer, while the prosecution is fighting to keep Widmer's guilty verdict.

Defense lawyers claim that one of the jurors discussed the case with friends outside the court room.

WLW personality Eric Deters spoke to one of the jurors from Widmer's third trial about the case.

Juror Brian Bell disagrees with this statement.

"There was some juror misconduct," said Brain Bell, Widmer juror, "And we found it out at the end and Ryan killed his wife.  He murdered her."

"That was some pretty big misconduct," said Eric Deters.

"Yes, sir," said Bell.

Widmer was convicted of drowning his wife, Sarah, last month.

He is currently serving a mandatory sentence of 15 years to life in prison.
