St. Clair Township Assistant Fire Chief Matt Johnson has been relieved of his command and fire fighting responsibilities with the department and has been immediately placed upon unpaid administrative leave, says Chief Terry White, Sr.

Johnson, 46, was arrested by Butler County Sheriff's office last week and charged with two 3rd-degree felony counts of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor.

Police say the charges stem from two separate occurrences with a female victim under the age of 16, and are alleged to have taken place over the last few months.

The leave will be until a disciplinary hearing can be held following the outcome of those criminal charges. Chief White immediately took these actions upon returning to town after being away at the FDIC conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Chief White expresses his sadness for the incidents that have unfolded leading to the charges against Johnson. The chief says Johnson has had a long and distinguished service with the department and the citizens of St. Clair Township.

Investigators do not believe there are any additional victims.
