Council committee to hear plan to save school nurses

Cincinnati City Council's Quality of Life Committee will get an update Tuesday from a group working on a public-private partnership to save school nurses.

City budget cuts taking effect this summer are expected to eliminate half the nurses who work in the Cincinnati Public Schools.

Jim Schwab, Director of the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, has been discussing the issue with city health officials and private organizations.  He will inform Council on how the community may reduce the effects of the $1 million City budget cuts that eliminated nurses for some local schools. The community has three months to raise the funds before the cuts take effect in July.
