Kroger announced on their website that their email database has breached by someone outside of the company.
Kroger said that the only information that this person obtained were names and email addresses but they say that they are still taking this very seriously.
In most cases this won't affect those on the email list but Kroger is asking all people to not open emails from people they don't know. They also said that they would never ask anyone for personal information such as credit card information or social security numbers. If you receive an email that asks for that information, it should be deleted.
Kroger said they are working to make sure that something like this never happens again. They are taking steps to make sure that no other personal information gets out.
The company also said that customers on their email list do not have to take any action of their own since they have called the authorities.
