Two suspects were taken into custody after leading police on a chase that ended in a cemetery.

It happened Thursday morning around 8 a.m. in Hamilton.

Police say Hamilton officers came in contact with a vehicle identified in a series of reported thefts in the area. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects failed to comply and officers lost contact with the suspect vehicle in the Lindenwald area.

A short time later, officers spotted the vehicle in the North End area. Again, the driver failed to comply when officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

Eventually, the driver stopped his truck at Neal and Heaton Streets. Two suspects fled on foot, jumped a fence, and ran into Greenwood Cemetery. Officers pursued the pair on foot and took them into custody inside the cemetery.

Officers found several pieces of evidence and impounded the truck. They arrested Nicholas Lorenz, 30, of Hamilton, and charged him with fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and a community control violation. Nicole Roberts, 38, also of Hamilton, is charged with contempt of court, theft and vandalism.

Police say additional charges concerning the theft of catalytic converts may be added, as well.

Police have not yet released the names of the suspects.
