Chase suspect appears in court

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A Cincinnati man who tried to outrun a Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy for over 20 minutes over the weekend was in court Monday morning.

Bond for Stephen Sharpshair, 44, was set at $2,500.

Police say shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Friday night, a Sheriff's Deputy attempted to stop Sharpshair's 1998 Ford Taurus near Banning Road and Memory Lane in Colerain Township for improper display of the rear license plate. However, Sharpshair failed to stop, leading the Deputy on a chase that lasted 23 minutes, covered nearly 22 miles, and reached speeds of up to 70 miles per hour.

The chase ended in the 5400 block of Crystal Avenue in Fairfield, Ohio when Sharpshair lost control of his car and hit a tree, causing his car to overturn.

Sharpshair has been charged with Failure to Comply, Driving under Suspension, Improper Display. He also had a Felony Warrant out of Florida for Fraud and a Misdemeanor Warrant out of Hamilton County for Passing Bad Checks.

No one was injured in this chase. Sharpshair has been transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center.
