Elderly woman dies after being rescued from pond

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Police say an elderly woman who was rescued from a pond in Florence on Monday afternoon has died.

Ethel Hall, 81, from Crescent Springs, was reporting missing by her husband at around noon on Monday after she left the area of Demia Way in Florence, where the couple visits from time to time.

Police say the woman suffered from Alzheimer's and was given a 'critical missing' status. Sheriff's deputies responded to the area to search for her.

About 15 minutes after the woman was reported missing, Deputy Anthony Lusty noticed shoes in a small pond off of Lakeside Drive. Lusty jumped into the water and pulled the woman out. Another deputy arrived and began CPR until EMS arrived and took over patient care.

According to a maintenance worker in the area, the woman frequents the area and feeds ducks at the pond.
