Beckfield College holds inaugural Virtual Firearms Competition

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Beckfield College is holding the inaugural Virtual Firearms Competition at their campus in Florence throughout the month of April.

The competition consists of 25 2-person teams shooting through a virtual firing range using a Glock Model 17 using the College's Firearms Training Simulator. Professionals, students of Beckfield College, and members of the community are invited to participate in the event.

The Firearms Training Simulator generates real-life experiences through state-of-the-art technology using realistic, interactive HD video. While accuracy determines the winner of the competition, the college says that the training exercise also teaches decision making skills in policing situations, jail experiences, and simulated security circumstances.

The schedule of the competition is as follows:

  • Collegiate Division, open to Beckfield College Students - April 11-24
  • Professional Division, open to Criminal Justice professionals or other professionals who work with a firearm - April 25-May 8
  • Community Division, open to members of the community - May 9-19
