Police say Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mike Leake stole merchandise from a downtown store.

Hamilton County Sheriff's spokesperson Steve Barnett says the 2009 first round draft pick is accused of taking $59 worth of merchandise from the Macy's store on 5th Street downtown at about 1:15 Monday afternoon.

Leake was arrested by 2 p.m. and booked into the Justice Center by 2:30 p.m.

According to the police report, Leake is accused of taking the tags off of six shirts and walked out of the store. Leake is expected to go before a judge for his arraignment Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.

Leake is scheduled to start on Thursday afternoon against the Diamondbacks at Great American Ballpark. So far this year he has two wins and no losses in three starts.

The Reds and Mike Leake released statements regarding the incident before the Monday night game against the Pirates. Click Here to read both statements.
