News of the arrest of Reds pitcher Mike Leake traveled fast, and fans across Cincinnati had some strong reactions.
"He's a Red, not a Bengal, I'm just surprised," said Kyle West.
The rookie pitcher posed for a mug shot at the Hamilton County Justice Center on Monday after being arrested for stealing $59 worth of shirts from the downtown Macy's. Police say Leake tried to steal six American Rag shirts, and got caught on a security camera.
"Fresh out the box, and he's stealing, I mean, I guess he's one of the bad boys of the Reds, now," said Mikel Wallace.
"He could get a thousand Rags--I mean, not being funny, but that's sad," said Erika Gamble, a Reds fan.
Macy's is one of three department stores downtown. Police arrested Leake around 2 p.m.
"It's very odd. I don't--well, I think he's making like 500 grand a year. I don't know what he's doing," said Kyle West.
Leake was released on bond, and will back in court on Tuesday.
