PARK HILLS, KY (FOX19) - Notre Dame Academy will hold a dedication ceremony Tuesday for a memorial honoring a student killed in a car crash.
Maria Schaffstein, 17, was killed on Interstate 65 in Alabama last year as she and seven of her friends were returning from a spring break trip. All of the students were taken to the hospital after the crash. One of them, Jessie Russo, suffered brain damage.
The prayer service, dedication and reception will be held at the school at 7 p.m. Tuesday. There will also be a tree planted, and a memorial will be unveiled in Maria's honor in the memorial garden on campus.
The parents of all of the students involved in the crash were invited to attend the ceremony.
