Chabot to honor firefighters for rescuing woman from home

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Congressman Steve Chabot will honor two Hanover Township firefighters who rescued a woman from a house fire.

In December, Melanie Scott was rescued from a fire that broke out at her grandmother's home. Scott's grandmother, Zola Gibson, 77, died in the fire.

Hanover Township fire captain Paul Smith lived next door to Gibson and along with firefighter Phil Clayton, worked to rescue Scott, saving her life.

Chabot will also honor Deputy Tom Lenz, who on a separate occasion, arrived at a home to find a 3-year-old unconscious and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Congressman Chabot will present the men with flags and thank them for their brave actions. The ceremony will take place Tuesday afternoon at the Hanover Township Community Center.
