FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - The National Weather Service says a preliminary investigation shows a tornado did not touch down in Boone County early Wednesday morning.

Instead, NWS officials believe straight line winds of 80 to 120 miles per hour caused the damage.

Three semi trucks were overturned when the storm blew through Wednesday morning around 1 a.m. The trucks were all stopped near the rest stop on I-71/75 just south of Florence.

The rest stop suffered a lot of damage, as garbage cans were blown around, trees were destroyed and vending machines knocked over.
