Air Care was called to a three-car crash Thursday morning on northbound Interstate 71.
It happened just before 8 a.m. Thursday morning at the 74 mile marker. The area is narrowed to one lane due to construction. At the time of the accident, traffic was at a standstill due to a broken down vehicle which construction workers were aiding in getting moved out of the way.
Police say Billy Beach, 30 of Verona, driving a 2007 Toyota Echo, came up on the stopped traffic and, unable to stop in time, ran into the rear of Jeremy Trumble, 34 of Verona, driving a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck. That impact drove Trumble's truck into the rear of the 2004 Kia Rio that was stopped in front of him and driven by Milton Cook, 35 of Verona.
Beach, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown to University Hospital in Cincinnati. Trumble, also not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, Kentucky by Walton Life Squad. Cook, who was wearing a seat belt, was uninjured.
