Police: Alcohol and/or drugs involved in crash that killed teen girl

ANDERSON TWP, OH (FOX19) - An early-morning, two-vehicle crash in Anderson Township has left a teenage girl dead, and two young men in the hospital.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says that a 2009 Toyota Corolla, driven by 23-year-old Alexander J. Kuehnle, was traveling east in the 6900 block of Beechmont Avenue Saturday morning around 2:30. They say Mr. Kuehnle was speeding, and then reportedly lost control of his car, causing it to cross over the center line.

When Mr. Kuehnle crossed into the westbound lane, his car hit a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciara head-on. The Oldsmobile was being driven by 18-year-old Rachel M. Barnett. The crash caused severe damage to both vehicles.

Ms. Barnett died as a result of the collision. Her passenger, 23-year-old David Gillen, was transported to University Hospital to be treated for injuries.

After being freed from the Corolla, Mr. Kuehnle was transported to University Hospital for serious injuries.

Seatbelts were not being used by either driver, however Mr. Gillen was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Police say drugs and/or alcohol are believed to be factors in this accident, but the crash remains under investigation at this time.
