COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The Northwest Local School District and Board of Education have made additional expenditure reductions for next school year that include 51 positions being cut.
The 2011-12 expenditure reductions are as follows:
- 18 Elementary Classroom Teachers
- 9 Middle School Classroom Teachers
- 5 High School Classroom Teachers
- 2 Special Area Teachers
- 3 Leadership Positions
- 14 Classified Staff Positions will include office personnel, custodians, assistants and maintenance. All of the classified reductions will occur due to attrition.
The 2011-12 reductions will also involve non personnel items which include reduced summer programs, expenses from the General Fund to Permanent Improvement, increased facility rental fees, delay in textbook purchases, reductions in Professional Development leave, and field trip expenses primarily for music/fine arts groups.
The amount of expenditures reductions total $3,246,500.
The Northwest School District says that they will take full advantage of resignations and retirements to minimize the number of job losses now and in the future.
The Board of Education says they will still have to decide what combination of additional reductions and additional revenue should be used to stabilize the district's financial outlook for the next several years.
