Mayor Mark Mallory's annual youth job fair is Thursday, April 28 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Duke Energy Convention Center.
"Working is an important part of growing up and developing the skills and habits that will serve young people well in their future careers," Mayor Mark Mallory said. "The recent economy has decreased the number of employment opportunities for young people in our community. I am asking for local companies to focus on creating additional jobs for young people this summer to ensure that they have the opportunities that they need."
Last year over 60 employers and organizations participated and the Job Fair was attended by over 5,000 youth.
The Job Fair is for young people between the ages of 16 and 24, including recent and soon to be college graduates. It will offer both year-round and summer employment opportunities and will also include youth employment resource agencies and community organizations with enrichment programs for youth.
