Some of Cincinnati's most visible choirs announced that they have signed up to participate in the World Choir Games on Thursday.

The Cincinnati Boychoir Tour Choir, Cincinnati Children's Choir, Cincinnati Kolping Saengerchor, Cincinnati Men's Chorus, MUSE Women's Chorus and the Fairfield High School Choraliers all registered this past week. The choirs made the announcement at Music Hall Thursday afternoon.

The World Choir Games is the largest international choral competition in the world, taking place every two years. The 7th World Choir Games will take place July 4-14, 2012 and will be hosted at the Duke Energy Center. These will be the first-ever hosted in the United States.

"It is so exciting to see some of the region's elite choirs show their leadership by being the first choirs in the world to register for the 2012 World Choir Games," says Lori Lobsiger, director of North American Markets for INTERKULTUR, the Germany-based organization that owns and produces the World Choir Games.
